FROM THE PRESIDENT
My involvement with the show movement began at the age of 14. My first show experience was through school Agriculture, when Wellington High School exhibited stud sheep. I later on developed my own pig stud and began showing. I started showing pigs at the age of 15, entering the display and competition at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. My involvement with the Dubbo Show commenced when Sandra Wilson-Tink, Alan Morris and myself re-established the pig competition after a 21 year absence. In 2006 I was nominated by Alan Morris to join the general committee of the Dubbo Show Society.
Throughout the course of my involvement with the Dubbo Show Society I have held office in the role of Chief Steward for the pig section (2012-present) and Vice-President (2017-2020). I am committed to leading by example and so have been seen around the showground setting up for and packing up after various committee run events such as the Annual Dubbo Show, New Year’s Eve Fireworks and various other fundraising ventures. I was elected to the President’s role at the Annual General Meeting in 2020.
Dubbo Show is an important event for our community. It is socially, culturally and economically significant. The Dubbo community is a great support of our show and we could not run this important event without the generous support of our sponsors, both large and small. In particular, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Regional Australia Bank, our major sponsor since 2011.
I am proud to be a part of the Dubbo Show Society and I look forward to working with the committee and community to create a successful show for years to come.
